Read: Proverbs 27:9; Proverbs 28:26; Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10 Proverbs Challenge Chapter of the Day: Proverbs Chapter 4 Think: I was reminded of the power of support when Pastor Ben talked about his third point in his last message. He said "Don't go it alone". "He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe." (Proverbs 28:26). So often we have the tendency to walk this journey of life alone because we don't want the advice or wisdom of those who care about us and may correct us. For many people the thought of actually sharing vulnerable areas of life is too painful or risky--sometimes they aren't even able to share them with God. This leads just to what King Solomon was talking about, because in essence, they end up trusting in themselves. The fear of seeking God's wisdom is typically related to apprehension of the unknown. Have you ever considered the reality that when we choose to "go it alone" we can't be certain of the outcome? We only have perceived control; but God has total control when we invite Him into every part of our lives. When we follow God's wisdom we are guaranteed to travel on the right path of life. King Solomon shared, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6) Do: Ask God to reveal areas where you need wisdom and knowledge to get you on the path He desires for you. Be real with a trusted friend or fellow Christian who can impart wisdom and guidance. (And maybe this is the opportunity to join a Life Group where you can resist going it alone and do life with others who are trustung in God to make their paths straight.) Pray: Dear Jesus, I ask for wisdom and knowledge so that I may live a life that honors You. Help me to be vulnerable and open so that the dark areas in my life will be filled with light. I thank you Father for Your love and generosity. Help me to commit to letting Your wisdom fill my soul. Amen.
