Daily Devotional: Tuesday, Oct 13
Speaker: Ben Sigman Theme: Being Wise With My Words Weekend Music links on iTunes: Your Grace is Enough by Chris Tomlin; Sing to the King by Passion Worship Band; Hallelujah to My King by Paul Baloche; From the Inside Out by Hillsong United. Read: Proverbs 10:11a; Luke 12:12; Exodus 4: 10-12 Proverbs Challenge Chapter of the Day: Proverbs 9 Think: I always wish I had the right words to say when a friend is in distress, when a tragedy happens, or when someone needs some spiritual insight. More often than not, I feel like I come up short when I try to say something helpful. Every once in awhile though, the words flow out and it's just the right thing. It's as if the Holy Spirit spoke but it was my voice. And that's just what it is! According to Proverbs 10 "The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life". If our righteousness comes from the Father, then the key is sticking close to Him so He can speak through us. In Luke 12:12 God makes this promise: The Holy Spirit will teach us what to say. We see God do just that for Moses in today's reading from Exodus when Moses was feeling more than a little inadequate. We only need to be available for the Lord to use us to speak words of life, truth, encouragement, grace... Our words can be just one more tool to further His purposes and to communicate just the right words in the right way to those we love. If I spend less time worrying about what I should say and focus more on what words God wants to say I think I'll be in the perfect place to be used by Him. Do: Tap into the Holy Spirit. Begin the day by giving God complete access and control of your words. Don't worry so much about what you should say, invite God to speak what He wants to say through you! Pray: Jesus I want to be used by you today to speak the words that you want my family friends coworkers and all I come in contact with today to hear. Help me to stay close to you, to hear your Holy Spirit and allow your words to flow through me! Amen. The eDevotional is written each week by a team of volunteers from Timberlake Church. |
