Daily Devotional: Wednesday, Oct 14
Speaker: Ben Sigman Theme: Being Wise With My Words Weekend Music links on iTunes: Your Grace is Enough by Chris Tomlin; Sing to the King by Passion Worship Band; Hallelujah to My King by Paul Baloche; From the Inside Out by Hillsong United. Read: Psalm 9:2; Psalm 150:6; Revelation 5:13 Proverbs Challenge Chapter of the Day: Proverbs 10 Think: Everyone likes to hear "Hey good job!" or "I appreciate you!" And if there are a number of people saying it, even better. Those words of praise can be powerful in our lives. As we've been thinking about the power of our tongue, it seems some of the most important words we can speak are thanks and praise... not just to others but to the Lord! Just like we enjoy hearing appreciation or praise, our Heavenly Father does, too! A great way to start is to think of Who God is or what He's done for you. Start with what you know from Scripture, like: He is the giver of all good things... He is the Creator of the universe... He is all-knowing and all powerful... He sent His beloved Son to so we can spend eternity with Him... He loves us! There is so much to thank Him for! Don't miss the opportunity to use the power of your tongue to praise the Father. When we do, we bless Him and bring Him great joy. Do: Focus on blessing God with your words today. Be creative, go for a walk and thank Him for His creation; Make a list of His characteristics and thank Him for Who He is; Find a great worship CD and sing along from your heart... As we come together this weekend at church don't forget the power of praising God corporately too - When we sing/pray/study together it brings glory and honor to God in an extra special way. Pray: God, I praise You for what You have done for me and for Who You are. You are worthy of all honor and praise and I worship you today! In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen! The eDevotional is written each week by a team of volunteers from Timberlake Church. |
