Think: "That was a great sermon!"  A comment I heard from several folks as I arrived for the second Sunday morning service. They were not just praising the speaker, musicians or technicians, but the TOPIC.  I believe many of us were greatly encouraged by the specific help given to "Tame the Tantrum within You (me)."

Few can claim to have anger under control.  Like the speaker said, anger is usually ignored, denied, or manifested in a negative way---rarely is it controlled.

How then can we be angry and yet not sin? (Eph. 4:26)  Daily we must put off the old self, be made new in the attitude of our mind and then put on the new self... The one created to be like God in righteousness and holiness.  In practicing this morning ritual we will be sure to not give the devil a foothold in our lives.   Instead of "delighting the devil with our anger, we will be honoring God" by choosing to deal with life's irritations in a Christ-like manner.

When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.  In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle: he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.  To those who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!"

His disciples remembered that it is written: "Zeal for your house will consume me." (John 2:13-17) The actions of Jesus were referred to as "zeal for His Father's house."  May we too exhibit intense energy toward that which angers God.

Do: Practice Step 1 toward peace and freedom - Today when irritation comes our way, acknowledge it.  Realize each experience will reveal what is inside us. It is ok to be angry; it is not ok to be out of control.

Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, remind me to put off my old self and invite You to renew your Spirit within me.  Help me to deal with anger in a healthy way so all my actions and words will bring honor to You.  Amen.
