Read: Hebrews 7:25-27; John 16:23-24 Proverbs Challenge Chapter of the Day: Proverbs 22 Think: My husband and I met through a mutual acquaintance... Well, really it was a blind date set up by a good friend. I'm sure I wouldn't have had the courage to approach him on my own and he was a pretty shy guy so I think him making the first move on his own was pretty unlikely as well. But our friend whom we both trusted - most of the time - made it easy by introducing us. As a result, our first date was less stressful than most first dates and by the time we actually got to the part of establishing a real relationship, we already knew where we were heading because our common friend had served as a go-between. If you think about it, Jesus fills this type of role between us and the Father. Through His sacrifice and His willingness to go to the cross, Jesus removed any barrier that would have kept us from being in a relationship or being accepted by the Father. He served as our go-between! And as a result Jesus teaches that any friend of His is also a friend of the Father. Jesus assured His disciples of this fact when He told them He would soon be leaving them. He wanted them, and those of us who believe in Him today, to know that our relationship with Him allows us the privilege to go boldly to God the Father with our requests. We can do so because we can go in Jesus name and because Jesus is our Friend, we can also be a friend of God. Do: Trust in Jesus assurance that you are a Friend of the Father and you can go to God with any hurt, any request, any need because you go in His name! Pray: Jesus, thank you that You sacrificed it all so that we could be a friend of the Father. Help us to approach his throne with boldness because of your friendship with us. Thank you for serving as our go-between with God and that we can have an enduring relationship with Him because of You. Amen.
