Read:
Ephesians 5:22-24, Colossians 3:19

Think: Listening to Pastor Ben talk about a woman’s need for affection and a man’s need for respect reminded me of a study. The question was asked of the men and women in the study, “During the argument, did you feel unloved at that moment or disrespected?”

83% of the men felt disrespected & 72% of the women felt unloved

When talking to your wife, it is amazing how well she can hear your words when they communicate love. Example: “I love the way you put the children to bed. They are so happy and go down so well for you” The way you phrase your words is so important. I clearly see this correlation between words and love in Colossians 3:19 where it states; Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.

Similarly, when talking to your husband respect is very important. Example: “Wow, I really admire the way you have handled the finances over the past six months.” When you honor and respect your husband I’ll bet there is no way you’ll ever get the job of handling the finances back from your spouse.

Ephesians 5:22-24 it states; Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

Do: We need to make a plan on how to get/stay connected with our spouses which includes daily prayer, talking face to face every day, exchanging emails, leaving notes, prayer and giving God control of your relationship.

Pray:  Dear Heavenly Father, help me to submit my relationship with my husband/wife to you Lord. May You be the most important aspect of my life today and always. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
