Speaker: Ben Sigman Theme: What Has Got To Happen for a Great Marriage to Work Weekend Music links on iTunes: Salvation is Here - Hillsong, All to You - Lincoln Brewster, Happy Day - Tim Hughes, You'll Come - Hillsong Read: Ephesians 5:31 Think: This weekend Pastor Ben preached about what has got to happen for a marriage to work, specifically talking about conversation. No, we aren’t talking about the “Did you pick up the groceries?” or “How was your ride home, honey?” or “Can you believe this weather we are having?” All great conversations starters, but when was the last time you asked your wife/husband about the stresses in their life? How are you feeling at home/work? Anything bugging you? What about asking her “Do you remember when we were first dating, what were some things I used to do back then that I don’t do now?” Or simply just asking about the highlights and lowlights of their day? Here is a little Love Challenge that I saw up on Strongerfamilies.org: Love Challenge for Men Give your spouse a dozen roses – and do it with a creative twist. Give eleven red roses and one white rose. Attach a note that reads: “In every bunch there’s one who stands out – and you are that one.” Love Challenge for Women Unplug the TV. Put a note on the screen saying, “Turn me on instead.” If you are not married, write the top 20 things you respect and love about your partner and read it to him. Now these may seem corny to you but there are a ton of other options. Unless we invest in our relationship with our spouse it is going to be tough to maintain a close relationship. Like Ephesians says, "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” Once God has provided our spouse to us, we are supposed to be as one. Do: We need to make a plan on how to get/stay connected with our spouse which includes daily prayer, talking face to face every day, emailing daily, leaving notes to let him/her know you are thinking about him/her and submit your relationship 100% to God. Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, help me to keep you as the most important aspect of my life and our lives together as a couple. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
