Speaker: Ben SigmanTheme: It Would Take a Miracle . . . To Heal This Wound Weekend Music links on iTunes: No Not One - Brandon Heath, Holding Nothing Back - Tim Hughes, Lead Me to the Cross - Hillsong, God Is With Us - Mercy Me Read: Psalms 10:1 Deuteronomy 31:6 Think: When Pastor Ben talked about pain and wounds in Sunday’s sermon I thought about my own walk with the Lord. It’s funny how sometimes I can feel like I am the only person going through troubled times. I begin to think that no one else in the world could be going through what I’m going through and that God is punishing me. At times like these I feel like God is far away from me and I can totally relate to David when he said, “Why, O Lord, do you stand far off, why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?” However when I take an honest assessment of my relationship with God, typically it’s not God who is far away but me who is far away from God. Reading verses like Deuteronomy 31:6 gives me strength and encouragement. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified…for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Time and time again I am encouraged by biblical examples of others who faced tougher challenges than what I am currently facing. Hey if it worked for them, it can certainly work in my life. Do: Take a moment to evaluate your walk with the Lord. Where you can give more time and attention to your relationship with Him so you can grow closer. I have found, the quicker I get on my knees to pray, the quicker I get back on track. Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I love you with all of my heart and I give you 100% of my focus and attention to live for you. Draw me closer to you more than ever before. I want to surrender my will to your plans for my life. Amen The eDevotional is written each week by a team of volunteers from Timberlake Church. |
