Think: “Lord Move, or Move Me”. You may have heard this popular song by the Christian Band FFH (Far From Home). Some of the lyrics are provided below:
I've looked everywhere to find
A simple peace of mind
I can't find nothing on my own
So I got to leave myself behind
Take up this cross of mine
Give away everything I hold onto
Lord I know the only way is through this
Lord I know I need you to help me do this
Lord move in a way, that I've never seen before
Cause there's a mountain in the way and a lock on the door
I'm drifting away, waves are crashing on the shore
So Lord move (move), or move me.
I love this song and its heartfelt plea.
- Big problems (mountain in the way and a lock on the door)
- Big Bold Ask (Lord move in a way, that I’ve never seen before)
- Die to Self (So I got to leave myself behind)
- Acknowledgement (Lord I know I need you to help me do this)
- Courageous Faith (So Lord move (move), or move me).
Let us be people who trust God’s plan even when we don’t know the outcomes, but trust Him to move, and move us!! Looks like the perfect plan to get unstuck. Today’s scripture takes place in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus certainly understood the full reality of the situation: that He would be killed though He was perfectly innocent. In His humanness He asked that “the cup be taken from Him”, but His courageous faith allowed Him to place God’s plan, God’s will, before His own human wishes. My hope and my prayer today is that each of us would take whatever seemingly insurmountable problems we have before us, and have that courageous kind of faith that allows us to ask Him boldly to move, or move us.
Do: Find a place for prayer. A quiet place where you can confide in our Father. Acknowledge the reality of your situation. Die to your wishes and outcomes. Ask and trust Him to move, or move you. Be quiet. Be still. Be patient. Trust in His will.
Pray: Father God I seek Your help. Help me to get out of the way and let You move in my life. Restore in me a spirit of thankfulness for Your wonders. I will wait patiently upon You. In Jesus precious name I pray. Amen.
