Think: I don’t know about you but have you seen any advertisements for Valentine’s Day cards, candy, or balloons this week? What if all of those cards, balloons, etc. were in celebration of God’s love for us? How cool would that be! To see how big this Love topic really is, do a simple search on Amazon on popular topics and see how popular the need is for understanding, experiencing and sharing LOVE:
- 2,652 books on Heaven
- 10,304 books on Money
- 16,765 on Sex
- 18,818 on God
- And 30,066 for Love
With all that information, I am amazed how we still find love to be such a mysterious and intriguing topic. A large part of being a Christian is to love others just as God loved you and to allow his love to radiate through us. Based upon 1 John 4:8, if you ever find yourself not able to love our broken world, ask yourself if you really love God? The verse reads, “Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love”.
For those who love the Lord, there will always be that bond, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39.
It’s so easy to tell kids to get along, share, be nice to one another and treat each other with kindness. And yet as adults, when we are instructed by God to do the same thing for one another, we so often have trouble. Let’s make sure we follow the same advice we give our kids.
Do: Don’t turn away from loving others like God loves you. Find someone this week to which you can express his love.
Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to Wage Love in my heart and allow me to share God’s gift of eternal life with others in my life today. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
The eDevotional is written each week by a team of volunteers from Timberlake Church.
