READ: Jeremiah 29: 10-14

THINK: Have you ever made plans only to see them fall apart or change? It may have been something small, like you planned a weekend away with friends and then something came up and the big plans were cancelled. Some changes, however, can be life-altering. We get up and go to work one morning and everything is fine, but then suddenly life changes completely. We can’t understand what’s going on. We hurt physically and emotionally. We don’t know how to move on or what to do to fix things.

As we come the close of our Love Sex & Marriage Series at Timberlake, I can’t help but think there are some that feel that way about your marriage or another significant relationship you’re in… But I want to encourage you with a very real truth.

The change, the unexpected, whatever it is that you are experiencing, was not a surprise to God. You may not have seen it coming, but He did. God knew the very moment it would happen. Though you are probably wondering why did He let it happen, understand that God has a plan for each and every one of us. We may not know His plan and we may not comprehend His ways. But we can trust Him for who He is, and we can trust that He has a plan! My ‘life verse’ says it all:

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord,
‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans for hope and a future.’”
   Jeremiah 29:11

Reread that verse again… His plans are to prosper us, never to harm us. We can’t see what lies ahead. Maybe we can’t begin to grasp how life will ever be the same. But we can trust in God!

DO: Whatever it is that you’re dealing with today, rest in the fact that God is in control. He knows what He’s doing. Give Him your full attention, do what He says and wait for what He has in store. You can trust Him… He loves you!

PRAY: God I trust YOU and choose today, in spite of my circumstances, to believe your promise – You do have a plan for me that is good. Thank you that you watch over me, and even though I don’t always understand I can always trust in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
