Weekend Speaker:  Ben Sigman

Theme:  Not Afraid - GOING ALL IN

Read: Psalm 23:4; Deuteronomy 31:6

Think: Fear is best described as “a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid.“ Today, where jobs are uncertain, financial success isn’t guaranteed and retirement at age 62 seems laughable, it’s not hard to look around and have fear.  But the Bible tells us in over 40 verses these two words: “fear not”.

What I love about FEAR is that most of the time we are fearing something that is not in our control. My ability to overcome fear is typically handled by relying on God to take my anxiety away.  I love the verse Psalm 23:4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

What do you fear today? Are you handling that fear by yourself? In the famous words of Dr. Phil, “How’s that workin for ya?”

Do: There will always be things that are not in our control and whether it be finances, retirement, careers, relationships, or whatever… God is in control but he needs you to surrender control to him for you to overcome that FEAR.

Pray: Dear Lord, I pray that you take my FEAR, uncertainty and doubt and restore serenity in my life. I surrender myself to you Lord and I am done trying to remove the FEAR I have in my life where I know only you can resolve. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
