Weekend Speaker Redmond - Pastor Greg Rohlinger

Weekend Speaker Issaquah- Pastor Rusty Gerhart

Theme:  I Can's Stop Worrying

Read: Hebrews 13:5; Ecclesiastes 5:10

Think: Greg Rohlinger spoke at Timberlake Redmond about worries… A topic we can all identify with I think! In his case he talked about how his diagnosis with a life altering disease changed his whole outlook on life. It was a true wake up call to me. I thought about all the things that clutter my mind – that in the broad scheme of life they really just don’t matter! In my case in particular, I thought to myself, “Don’t let the love of money spin out of control to the point where the only thing that brings me back to reality is a hearing a life altering diagnosis.”

In Hebrews 13:5, “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

Growing up with teenagers, Facebook, and all the other social media options we consistently hear about how the other teenager’s parents are taking them to do this or that, or purchasing the next best whatever,  or allowing them to do some amazing spectacular thing… With that constant bombardment my children struggle with the love of “things” so the verse above is wonderful. It’s impossible to consistently “Keep up with the Jones” when it comes to the monetary things of life and it’s even harder to teach your kids to be happy and content with themselves and their circumstances.

This situation brings this verse to my mind and on my heart: Ecclesiastes 5:10, “Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.”

Do: Let God have control of your life. Let him secure you where you are, giving you the wisdom to make the money that you need to live on and trust in him that he will provide whatever you need.

Pray: Dear Lord, I pray that you take my worry, uncertainty and doubt around my family desires of worldly possessions. Restore serenity in our lives for what we do own and to truly enjoy it all as a gift from you. I surrender myself to you Lord, and know that you will provide us all that we need. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
