From the Inside Out
Daily Bible Reading: Acts 7
However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived,” the things God has prepared for those who love him. These are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit. “
~ 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NIV
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. ~ Romans 8:28 NIV
Commit your ways to the Lord, trust in him and he will bring it to pass.
~ Psalm 37:5 NIV
There are so many things in life that are uncertain, but God remains constant. His love for us is constant. What a wonderful thought! He is not surprised by anything that happens in our lives.
This weekend Ben’s message started with Acts 1:8, You will receive the power of the Holy Spirit, and you will be my witnesses telling people about me everywhere… This verse tells us the promise Jesus gave as He ascended to heaven, we are left with the power of the Holy Spirit to guide us in our lives.
Because of that gift, we can see that God is bigger than our circumstances; He is bigger than the things we worry about. As we seek him and come to him through prayer we will be guided by his Spirit. We can trust that God has our best interest at heart. He loves us beyond measure, we cannot fathom the love He holds for us. It gives me peace to know that God is in the details of my life, and even when things seem crazy, or out of control, I can trust God is at work in my life. He will calm the storms and he will carry me through the fires, he will protect me and provide for me every day of my life. How wonderful to be loved in such a way.
As we put our trust in God he changes us from the inside out. Our own will begins to change and it begins to be aligned with His Will for our lives, our hearts change and we have new eyes to see and new ears to hear. Steven Curtis Chapman has an old song called “The Great Adventure”; I have always loved that song because life is such a great adventure with God as our pilot! He will take us places we never thought possible, we will see his hand at work in the wildest circumstances, and we get to see miracles (big and small) unfold before our eyes. Can you imagine a better pilot?
In the message this week Ben discussed “Ruthless Trust”. As we mature in God we learn we can trust him with everything in our lives. We can give more faithfully, we can love more deeply and we can live with more peace and freedom. I love that God is constantly maturing us and taking us to new levels.
Prayer: Thank you Lord that I can put not only my faith in you but also my trust. I thank you that I can trust you with every detail of my life. I ask that you guide me by your Spirit in every step I take so that I can be all that you created me to be. Fill my heart with your love and guide my desires to become the same as the desires that you have for me. Show me the ways I can best serve you. I invite you into every interaction I have today. May your love shine through me every day. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
