Daily Bible Reading: Acts 25
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. - Romans 26-28
But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. - 1 Timothy 1:16
This week in our One Million Reasons Series, Pastor Ben described "How We Can Be a Difference Maker" and gave us several steps we can take. He also mentioned that God wants to use our old hurts to transform us. This thought stuck with me as I reflected back on my life. There have been so many times that God has used my sin and failure to not only help me grow, but to help others as well.
So often God brings people into my life who have struggled with similar sins. I now get the privilege of sharing God’s hope and healing with them and encourage them back on the path of righteousness.
There are so many key players in the Bible who failed God and were given not only another chance, but eventually more trust and responsibility than before their “fall”. Though it's never His will that we disobey Him, God uses our sin to humble us and to remind us that we need His grace. The less we hide from our sin, and then share how God grew us through it, the more we get to experience God’s transformation.
Are you willing to give someone another opportunity to succeed when they have failed you? Are you willing to be used by God despite your sin, or are you allowing shame to keep you hidden?
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for forgiving me of my sin and for using my failures to transform me. Please use me to help others and to be your servant. Help me to show grace and love to all who you bring into my life. Keep me from sin, but when I do fail, use my sin to mature me and to make a difference in Your kingdom. Amen.
