Speaker: Ben Sigman Theme: Wisdom Weekend Music links on iTunes: Today is the Day by Lincoln Brewster; Holy Is the Lord by Chris Tomlin; You'll Come by Hillsong United; For Who You Are by Hillsong. Read: Proverbs 4: 7; Romans 8:28; Matthew 13: 44-46 Proverbs Challenge Chapter of the Day: Proverbs Chapter 7 Think: Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding (Proverbs 4: 7). These words caused me to ponder whether or not I am willing to "pay the price" for understanding. The "cost" often requires my willingness to endure delayed gratification or to endure an uncertain future. It takes real effort to seek the Scriptures, to put following God as my priority... to leave other seemingly important things undone so that I can "get wisdom". But here's the alternative-- Many times I've paid a high price for my choices when I failed to seek proper wisdom or understanding prior to making a decision. Faith in Jesus has allowed me to trust that even when I don't understand all that is happening in my life, I always can rely on the fact that the He is in control and He gives me the wisdom I need to get to the proper destination. And when I make a mistake He is there to help me make it right. God created me to be an inquisitive person who likes to understand how people think and feel; therefore I tend to go beyond people's surface appearance so I can get to know them better. I have been blessed to see how increased wisdom and understanding can change the way people perceive themselves and others. There are times in my day that words come out of my mouth, yet I fully know that they are not my words but God's. I am always amazed at how His words impart deeper understanding just at the right time for someone who needs to hear them. Do: Remember that when we seek God's wisdom and understanding He tells us that we will not be hampered and we will not stumble. Seek understanding for the little things in life, not only the areas that cause the most concern. Pray: Dear Jesus, I ask that you will give me the wisdom necessary to make right decisions and choices in my life. Bring me back to you when I get off track so that I may gain deeper knowledge and understanding. Jesus, thank you for never leaving me. Amen.
