Daily Devotional: Friday, Feb 5
Speaker: Paul Diaz Theme: Joy & Peace Weekend Music links on iTunes: Just the Same by Northwest University; Happy Day by Tim Hughes; How Great is Our God by Chris Tomlin; Hosanna by Hillsong United. Read: Romans 12: 9-18; John 10:10b Think: Tonight students from all over our area will be attending a new movie that is being touted as pretty amazing. The goal of the movie is stated in the title, "To Save a Life." Real issues facing our teenagers that are tough to discuss are openly revealed and faced in this movie. (You can get more information if you'd like at www.tosavealifemovie.com) I am involved in the lives of several "at risk youth." My relationship with them reminds me that we are all "at risk." Daily we are given choices that will affect our lives for good or bad. Opportunities to make a difference with our lives and in the lives of others are constantly set before us. Yet too often we are content to live quiet lives, fearful of putting ourselves in uncomfortable situations. A commonly heard comment is, "I just don't have the time" to get involved. In reality, it takes little time to let someone know they matter. A smile, a wave, a compliment on a job well done or a demonstration of good manners are all ways of communicating that we have noticed another person and given them value by acknowledging their existence. Everyone wants to know that their life counts. My life was changed when a neighbor decided to get involved with the family across the street. That neighbor was an active follower of Jesus, the family was mine. An invitation to come to Youth Group put me on the path of meeting Jesus and a caring neighbor was used to "save" a life. Do: Are you willing to be used by God as a lifesaver? There most likely is someone in your life in need of your attention. Choose today to join me in asking Jesus to lead us and strengthen us to spread joy and peace to those He puts in our path. Pray: Dear Heavenly, thank you for sending someone into my life to bring me hope of a better future and to point me toward You. Use me to be a bearer of joy and peace to someone today, tomorrow, or whenever You choose. I am so grateful for Your love and care, help me to never take it for granted. Lead me in Your way that my life will be a reflection of who You are. AMEN The eDevotional is written each week by a team of volunteers from Timberlake Church. |
