Speaker: Ben Sigman Theme: What I Want to Tell my Kids about Following God Weekend Music links on iTunes: The Time Has Come by Hillisong United; God is With Us by Michael Olson; Strong Tower by Kutless; Lead Me to the Cross by Hillsong. Read: Mark 9:23-25; Judges 6:36-40; John 20:24-28 Think: In our passages today we see three men who had doubts, men who wanted God to do something amazing but had trouble seeing it happen. All the men took their doubts to God and He not only gave them reassurance but allowed them to see His work fulfilled. God does not turn away from them because they have doubts. By bringing their doubts to God and being honest about them, they allowed God to work in their lives through them. Each of the men learned more about God and themselves by trusting God with their doubts and walking in what faith they had. As a result, not only did their faith grow but they saw miracles. Learning more about God and His works can help our faith grow. At Timberlake we also have Growth Groups so we can learn with others from the Bible and share knowledge and experiences. As we do this we feed our spiritual lives and build our faith in God. I did not feel confident or comfortable when joining my Growth Group but I have been so blessed by the people in it and their faith and encouragement as we get to know God better together and share.
If you have doubts that you struggle with, remember you can take them to God in prayer and that He has placed you in a church where you have many opportunities to ask questions and find answers that point you towards God. Pray: Thank you Father that no matter how small our faith feels or how big our doubts we can bring them to You and you can work with whatever we bring. Please help us to remember to bring our doubts to you and not let them grow. Thank you that we are in fellowship with each other and that while we all have doubts we are able to support each other in our faith and learn about you. The eDevotional is written each week by a team of volunteers from Timberlake Church. |
