Speaker: Ben SigmanTheme: It Would Take a Miracle . . . To Heal This Wound Weekend Music links on iTunes: No Not One - Brandon Heath, Holding Nothing Back - Tim Hughes, Lead Me to the Cross - Hillsong, God Is With Us - Mercy Me Read: Jonah 2:1-10, Acts 12:5, Mark 4:12, Romans 8:28 Think: Why does a loving God allow pain and wounds to take place? Perhaps because just like grass grows thicker and greener in the valley than it does on the mountain top we grow more in character and spirituality in the valleys of life, than we do on the mountaintops of life. Three myths about Pain and our Christian walk: 2.) If I experience pain, there is something wrong with me 3.) If I experience pain, there is something wrong with God So if you believe these three points, I ask you…If everything in your life was perfect, would you have ever come to Christ? If everything in your life was perfect after you accepted Christ, how close do you think you’d be to him right now? It encourages me knowing that even out of bad situations God causes good things to happen. This is so important to remember when you are going through a difficult season and your vision is blurred by pain. I am sure if you were to talk to Jonah while he was in the belly of the fish (Jonah 2:1-10), or talk with any number of the disciples in prison (Acts 12:5, Mark 4:12) they might not have known why they had to go through what they did, but God did- it was his plan. Even when life feels out of control God is still in control and has a plan. Do: Know that God allows pain and suffering in your life in order for you to grow closer to him. He will take the bad things in life and brings good! (Romans 8:28) Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you that you enable me to continue to grow closer to you each day. Even during seasons of pain and suffering may your name will be glorified. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. The eDevotional is written each week by a team of volunteers from Timberlake Church. |
